The State Institute for Culture is a Partner of the Ninth Edition of "Poetry in the Metro"
On November 19, at 6:30 p.m., the ninth edition of the "Poetry in the Metro" initiative will be officially opened at the Polish Institute - a project that unites art and everyday life by presenting poems by European poets in the spaces of the Sofia Metro.
This year's theme is "Friendship", and the project, organized by the Polish Institute in Sofia and EUNIC cluster partners in Bulgaria, includes works by 20 authors from different European countries. Among them are names such as Erich Fried (Austria), Bertolt Brecht (Germany), Tassos Livaditis (Greece) and Heli Laksonen (Finland).
The poems will be displayed in key metro stations: "Sofia University", "V. Levski Stadium", "NDK", "European Union", "Vitosha", "Tsarigradsko Shose", "Serdika II", "Livov Most", "Lomsko road" and "White Danube". Metro trains will also greet passengers with poetry, turning journeys into an exciting cultural experience.
At the suggestion of the State Institute for Culture, Bulgaria is represented by Petya Kokudeva - a beloved children's writer and poet, whose poem "Why the Woodpecker Rattles" tells a wise story about reconciliation.
At the opening, the event will be presented by Mrs. Yana Genova, Deputy Mayor of Sofia for Culture, and Mrs. Ivona Yakushko Dudka, Director of the Polish Institute. Ambassadors and representatives of cultural institutions will read the original poems.
The project, which is implemented with the support of the Metropolitan Municipality, aims to bring people together through poetry and create bridges between cultures. Bulgarian National Radio and Bulgarian National Television are media partners.
