On the Occasion of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Literacy Day, the Mobile Exhibition "Alphabet and History" was presented in Sarajevo

On the occasion of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Literacy Day, which is celebrated on August 29, in the gallery of Preporod in the center of Sarajevo, the Ambassador of Bulgaria Valeri Yotov and the Chairman of Preporod Prof. Saniin Kodric opened a joint exhibition consisting of the documentary exhibitions "Alphabet and History" of the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and "Word for Letters: Traces of the Bosnian Alphabet" of the Cultural Association of Bosnians Preporod. The exhibition presented the role of the Glagolitic and Cyrillic languages ​​in the cultural development of both countries and the Slavic peoples.

Ambassador Yotov pointed out the historical work of the creators of the Slavic alphabet Cyril and Methodius and their students and the key role of the First and Second Bulgarian Kingdoms during the Golden Age of Bulgarian literature for the confirmation of the two new scripts among the Slavic peoples and for the development of the political, spiritual and trade relations between them.

Professor Kodrich highlighted the democratic and inclusive nature of the work of Cyril and Methodius, far exceeding the borders of the region and representing a contribution to European civilization.

Guests at the event were Mehmed Pargan, adviser in the office of the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Becirović, Nebojsa Regoje, head of the public relations department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the deputy mayor of the municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo, the director of the National and University Library in Sarajevo , representatives of the diplomatic corps.

Also present were journalists and camera crews from the National Television and Radio of Bosnia and Herzegovina and from the largest local TV channel H1, broadcasting in Bosinia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia, who also filmed short statements by Ambassador Valery Yotov and Prof. Kodric. Footage of the event was broadcast on the evening news. The exhibition was also covered in "Biserye" magazine, "Avaz" magazine and the "Proporod" website.
