The exhibition "The Energy of Discovery" marks the Start of a Partnership between the State Institute for Culture and the International Foundation "St. St. Cyril and Methodius"
On May 16, 2025, the opening of the collective exhibition "The Energy of Discovery" took place in the "Mission" gallery at the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, jointly organized by the Institute and the International Foundation "St. St. Cyril and Methodius".
The event attracted diplomats, representatives of cultural institutions, artists and connoisseurs of contemporary Bulgarian art. The exhibition presents a carefully selected selection of works from the Foundation's rich collection, including some of the most significant Bulgarian authors from the late 20th and early 21st centuries, including Dimitar Kirov, Hristo Simeonov, Sava Savov, Gancho Karabadzhakov, Petko Abadzhiev, Kalina Taseva, Andrey Daniel, Magda Abazova, etc.
“With this exhibition, the Mission Gallery once again confirms its role as a space for inter-institutional dialogue and cultural presentation of the Bulgarian art scene before the diplomatic and international community. We are pleased that our partnership with the St. Cyril and Methodius Foundation gives us the opportunity to show valuable works and tell an important part of the history of our contemporary art,” said Ms. Snezhana Yoveva-Dimitrova, Director of the State Institute for Culture, in her welcome address.
The curator of the exhibition, Prof. Dr. Chavdar Popov, emphasized that the selected works reflect the spirit of transition – a time of discoveries, breaking norms and searching for new means of expression:
“The exhibition does not seek formal unity, but rather shows the diversity of individual artistic voices, which at the same time carry a common charge – the energy of discovery. These are works that speak of an era, but also of the personal creative courage of their authors.”
On behalf of the St. Cyril and Methodius Foundation, a greeting was delivered by Prof. Stefan Stefanov, President, and Mr. Mihail Tachev, Executive Director, who noted:
"This exhibition is only a small part of our mission to preserve, develop and present the valuable in Bulgarian art. Since the foundation was established in 1982, we have been purposefully working to support young talents and preserve our cultural heritage."
The exhibition is realized with the media partnership of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency and will remain open for visits at the "Mission" gallery until June 11, 2025.
