MASTER OF ART - "Ahab was here: reflections on Moby Dick" (51 min., 2025) wins Best Bulgarian film, provided by the State Institute for Culture
"Ahab Was Here: Reflections on Moby Dick" (51 min., 2025) has won Best Bulgarian Film at the 11th edition of the MASTER OF ART film festival. The award is provided by the State Insitute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and was received by the film's director Mr. Todor "Tosh" Lichev, who also won the prize for Best Debut.
The film is produced by Bulgarian production company SHOOT, and is in co-production with the "Museum Night" European initiative. The film is in black and white and tells the story of the creative process behind the staging of "Moby Dick", a theatre play by Diana Dobreva and Alexander Sekulov at Ivan Vazov National Theater in Sofia. For Lichev, "the story is about need - the need to create and the need to leave a mark behind you - something to be remembered for." The selection for this festival of "Ahab was here" marks another milesone in the film's blooming festival life.
