The Exhibition

04/10/10
The Bulgarian Institute for Culture (Paris) participates in the Annual Week of Foreign Cultures and Foreign Culture Institutes with the exhibition of the Institute for Culture with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs entitled “Sboryanovo: Nature and Monuments, Gods and People”. The events forming part of this year’s Week edition are united by the common theme of the cultural and historic heritage. In the presence of a large number of guests, Bulgaria’s ambassador to France, Marin Raykov, opened the exhibition. In his speech, ambassador Raykov paid attention to Bulgaria’s consistent policy concerning the protection, conservation and socialising of the monuments of culture. He emphasised the vast importance of the Sboryanovo national sanctuary for the history of all the nations that had once inhabited the northeastern territory of Bulgaria. He pointed out that the Sboryanovo Reserve is a rare example of harmonious cohabitation of archaeological monuments and natural environment that had changed little throughout centuries. The complex had been gradually built from antiquity to our times – sanctuaries, Thracian tombs and other monuments, a total of 140, and the most interesting of them is the Thracian Tomb of Sveshtari, which is included in the UNESCO world cultural heritage list.

The exhibition was covered by the French media, in particular by the Express magazine, the electronic edition of Le Figaro, and by various electronic news websites.
