On 29 October 2025, at the Representation of the European Commission in Hungary Európa Pont, the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Hungary held an event dedicated to the upcoming adoption of the euro as the official currency in the Republic of Bulgaria on 1 January 2026. The thematic poster exhibition “Re-action: Bulgaria and the Euro”, provided by the International Triennial of the Stage Poster – Sofia, was presented to ambassadors accredited to Hungary, official representatives of Hungarian institutions, as well as public figures, representatives of academic and cultural circles and the media. The event was opened by the Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Hungary, Mr. Gabor Zupko, as well as by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria in Hungary, Mr. Hristo Polendakov. A welcoming address and information about the exhibition was also provided by Ms. Katalina Vasileva, author of several of the posters, senior expert at the State Cultural Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.

“Re-action: Bulgaria and the Euro” is a special exhibition, the premiere of which was in August at the Sredets Gallery under the Ministry of Culture. This is the first visual response of Bulgarian artists from the International Triennial of the Stage Poster to the upcoming admission of our country to the eurozone. This theme united 13 large-format posters – not as comments, but as bright artistic interventions, with many symbols and signs, corresponding to the national and pan-European. The curator of the exhibition is Albena Spasova, while the authors are prominent professionals: Prof. Bozhidar Yonov, Katalina Vasileva, Radoslava Boor, Lyuba Tomova, Nenko Atanasov, Damyan Damyanov, Georgi Georgiev – Arshata, Ivan Kashlakov, Mila Lozanova.

The event is the first in a series of such events aimed at promoting Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone among the Hungarian public. Some of the posters will be displayed on the fence of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Budapest. The opening of the exhibition was preceded by a lecture on the topic of the adoption of the euro in the Republic of Bulgaria, which Ambassador Hristo Polendakov delivered to students at the prestigious Corvinus University of Economics.
