Chicago and Illinois celebrate Europe Day
At the initiative of the Consulate General in Chicago, this year for the first time Europe Day was celebrated with proclamations by the Governor of Illinois, J.B. Pritzker, and the Mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson. May 9, 2024, was declared as the Day of Friendship between the European Union and America, emphasizing that the EU and the USA stand side by side as friends and strategic partners on the international stage in defense of their shared values.

Ohio Senate passed a resolution honoring Bulgarian-American heritage. The document acknowledges that Bulgaria and the United States are strategic partners and allies, sharing ties of culture, tradition, and common interest. The State of Ohio is proud to be called home by a large number of Bulgarian-Americans and their descendants who have contributed significantly to the economic development, multicultural diversity, and enrichment of all aspects of life in the State of Ohio.

Chicago City Council adopted a resolution on the occasion of 120 years of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and the USA
During its session on November 7, City Council of Chicago unanimously adopted a resolution on the occasion of 120 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and the USA. The document notes that Bulgaria was admitted into and permitted to display an exhibit at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, an event hailed by the Chicago Tribune as the first diplomatic recognition accorded to Bulgaria as an independent state. The author Aleko Konstantinov and his travelogue "To Chicago and Back" is recognized as an inspiration to generations of Bulgarian emigrants in Chicago.

Parade of Bulgaria and Proclamation, Bulgarians in Chicago celebrated May 24, Day of the Bulgarian Alphabet and Culture
Thousands of Bulgarians in Chicago took part in the Parade of Bulgaria on the occasion of May 24, the Day of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture. Among the official guests was the Mayor of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, Craig Johnson, and Trustee Tammy Miller.
