Ministry of Foreign Affairs celebrates International Francophonie Day, 20 March

On 19 March, on behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Mariya Gabriel, a reception was given on the occasion of the International Francophonie Day. The event took place at the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The event was attended by MPs, diplomats accredited in the Republic of Bulgaria, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Culture, teachers, university professors, prominent figures of culture and art, as well as business representatives.

The 81st anniversary of the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews and the memory of the Jews who died in the Nazi death camps were commemorated with an official ceremony and a March of Tolerance ‘We Remember’ in Sofia. ‘The march has become an annual expression of the Bulgarian people's aspiration for freedom, equality, humanity and harmonious coexistence, regardless of ethnicity and religion,’ said the congratulatory message on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel, read to the audience by Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova, who took part in the ceremony.
