TIHOMIR STOYTCHEV
DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER
Ambassador Tihomir Stoytchev is a career diplomat.
From 2016 to 2022 he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria in Washington, D.C., the United States of America.
Prior to this, Ambassador Stoytchev was Foreign Policy Secretary to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria (2012 – 2016). In addition, Mr. Stoytchev served at the Bulgarian Mission to the European Union in Brussels, and as Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d'Affaires, a.i. at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Washington, D.C.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sofia, he held different positions including acting Permanent Secretary, Director of Americas Directorate, Head of Department for EU External Relations, Budget and Financial Instruments, International Financial and Economic Organizations at the European Integration Directorate.
Mr. Stoytchev earned his M.A. degree at the St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia in Philosophy and History.
