If you are travelling to......

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs develops mutually beneficial bilateral relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and other states.

The main areas of bilateral cooperation are: politics, trade and economics, military policy, consular affairs, the fields of culture, education and science, etc.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs negotiates with the governments of other states in order to promote friendly relations therewith and thus develop cooperation in all fields.

Within the bilateral relations with the different states, the Bulgarian diplomatic and consular missions represent the interests of the Bulgarian State in the relevant host country and provide for the protection of its citizens and legal entities within the limits set by international law.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs maintains 81 embassies, 17 consulates general, 1 consulate and 1 diplomatic office, as well as 7 Permanent Representations to international organisations.
