Bulgarian Culture Week in Cuba - Cienfuegos

On 22 April, in the Cuban city of Cienfuegos, the Embassy held a series of cultural events that coincided with the celebration of the city's 205th anniversary and the 45th anniversary of the opening of the Vasil Levski plant, in which Bulgarian specialists have provided technical assistance for long years .

In one of the halls of the "Vasil Levski" plant was opened an exhibition of the students from the city, who participated in the contest "Apostles of History" announced by the Embassy. The students worked on the subject of Vasil Levski and Jose Marti.  In another hall was exposed the traveling exhibition "The Colors of Bulgaria" of the Bulgarian artist Dr. Petya Ilieva. A vinyl donated by the Embassy was shown in front of the plant. Dr. Petya Ilieva held a creative workshop at the "Beni More" city art school.

After the speeches of Ambassador Todor Kanchevski, the deputy governor of Cienfuegos, the director of the plant and the creator of the bust of Vasil Levski, all the children who participated in the "Apostles of History" competition received diplomas. Six of the little artists received also a professional paint sets.

With the support of the local authorities the yard of the plant will be turned into a park of Bulgarian-Cuban friendship, starting with the planting of a tree.

The initiative was honored by about 180 guests, including local authorities, factory workers, Bulgarian citizens, Cubans who graduated from Bulgarian universities and friends of Bulgaria.

The cultural events in Cienfuegos marked the beginning of the first Week of Bulgarian Culture outside Havana, taking place within the framework of the second Month of Europe in Cuba.
