Bulgaria and Thailand maintain friendly bilateral relations based on mutual respect. The official contacts date back to 1974, when the two countries established diplomatic relations. I strongly believe that a future of strong and mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas of activities is possible. It is a thrilling challenge and opportunity for everyone who is keen to better understand and to learn more about Bulgarian and Thai history, culture, traditions and contemporary life. As a country member of the European Union, Bulgaria enjoys greater opportunities to forge new partnerships in the region of Southeast Asia. Within the European community, the attractiveness of our country as a destination for making business, for enjoying cultural tourism and for exploring trade opportunities is growing. On the other hand, Thailand is a founding member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and plays an important role in regional integration processes and in the development of strengthened partnership between the European Union and ASEAN. This is a new path for diplomatic and foreign policy activity of Bulgaria worthy to be explored.
